It’s coming….. Film of the year… and… film poster of the year?:

Interesting collaboration between forward thinking Ace Hotels latest Palm Springs Hotel and Swim Club. They’ve had Hecox design several prints for them, which are then situated throughout the hotel rooms. The guests are then able to buy ones they like from reception.

Emory Douglas, the former Minister of Culture for The Black Panther Party, is producing a series of 12 prints based on his artwork that was originally featured in the Black Panther Newspaper in 1970 and 1971.

Since Rizzoli published a superb and thorough book on Emory Douglas a couple of years back, i always hoped prints should be made available, and they finally are – high quality and hand-signed by Douglas himself.

Real nice print from illustrator Nikki McClure arrived today – available from the excellent Reform School online store.

Ooops. Missed the opportunity to flip a print. A new Banksy went on sale at Pictures On Walls earlier this week at £450 a print, sold out in moments, then several appeared on eBay minutes later at… £5k.

I only noticed a couple of hours after the event, so missed out on an easy christmas bonus.

Now you could say its out of order – people flipping prints for cash and pushing the price up for the ‘real Banksy fans’, but really… the piece itself is pretty dull to be honest and the Banksy phenomenon so riddled with merry fools who think Lee169 is a denim jean and Dondi White magnolia shade from Dulux, I mean, who cares really – any rational guy would flip straight to the bank. Forget about any moral codes and principles around Graffiti and Art For The People yadayada.

Well done to the successful flippers – and to the peeps who kept them for themselves cos they ‘really love Banksy as an artist’…………….. well.
